St. Thomas is one of the three main U.S. Virgin Islands and home of the Territory capital, Charlotte Amalie. Situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, St. Thomas is located in the Lesser Antilles, 1,600 miles south, south east of New York City; 1,100 east, southeast of Miami; and 70 miles east of San Juan. The island is 32 square miles and is within a 50-mile radius of a dozen other Caribbean islands.
